This ship was Swedish built but taken by the Japanese during WWII, and renamed the Nippon Maru. At the time of sinking she was carry munitions, military trucks, motorbikes as part of her cargo. Sunk due to a torpedo strike at the stern, she now sits in 43m of water on a sandy sea bed.
Fish life around the wreck is good, ranging from juvenile to adult fish of many species; a must visit area is the bow to see the large gun (overgrown with coral and sponges now) and the forward hold full of shell casings (see the photos and video below). A perfect wreck for both recreational and technical divers, for those certified for Nitrox a great wreck to explore with the added bottom time.
