Sabah's largest city Kota Kinabalu or K.K. is a modern capital offering spectacular views since the town is built on the slopes of the 4095 meter high Mount Kinabalu. For hikers and climbers, this mountain offers enough entertainment and outdoor activity to last for weeks. Other sights are the Sabah State Mosque, enjoy the views from Signal Hill, visit the City Mosque or enjoy some of Malaysia's stunning architecture at the Tun Mustapha Tower (Menara Tun Mustapha) also known as the Sabah Foundation Building.
Layang Layang is as remote as you can get in Malaysia, sitting more than three hundred kilometers from mainland Kota Kinabalu in the middle of the South China Sea and part of the Spratlys. It is a manmade connection of thirteen reefs with a large sixty meter deep lagoon inside, offering spectacular marine life, excellent visibilities and healthy coral formations. Labuan Islands has become one of Malaysia's financial hubs and offers some interesting wreck dives from WWII and the early eighties. Pulau Tiga is one of the newest islands in the world formed after a volcanic eruption in 1897, now offering excellent muck diving. The region of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park or TARP is a getaway weekend destination for locals who like to soak up the sun and swim in its brilliant blue waters. Trainees, wreck certified, advanced and professional divers all can pick a dive site that perfectly suits them.
