The islands Pulau Payar, Pulau Kaca, Pulau Lembu and Pulau Segantang that make up Payar national park are all uninhabited with the exception of a building from the marine park center on Payar. There you can find a lot of information about the park, about camping trips and all the flora and fauna living in the park. There even are some tourist facilities such as public toilets, restrooms and a few hikes into its rainforest to spot fascinating animals and plants.

Some of the more interesting dive spots near the islands are the many confiscated fishing boats that were sunk as an artificial reef south of Pulau Kaca and Grouper Farm famous for its many name equal inhabitants. Although the visibilities are not as good as elsewhere in Malaysia, Payar offers the best diving in Western Peninsula and it has an excellent amount of marine and coral life. Many dive and snorkel trips from Langkawi (30km to the north) and Penang (40km to the south) can be seen here mooring up at the same dive spots. There also is a floating platform with an underwater observation which is a very popular destination for snorkeling boats.
