Pulau Sibu is a six kilometer long island, part of the Seribuat chain, only twelve kilometers offshore the Malaysian Peninsula. Getting there is easiest from Tanjong Leman about ten km south of Mersing. Try to avoid weekend and local holidays since resorts are packed by many Malaysian and Singaporeans during that time. The southwest coast of Sibu is filled with local kelongs such as Keramat known for its caves and arches, Semanggar perfect for snorkelers, and Kampong Duku being the largest developed town on the southwestern tip of the island.

The waters surrounding Sibu Islands have been declared a Marine Park in 1993 and are spectacular although not as clear as the more offshore islands Aur and Pemanggil. The main activity on Sibu is fishing for game fish such as marlin, grouper and sailfish.
